When Can Bailiffs Turn Up?

Bailiffs may only take control of goods between 6am and 9pm any day of the week, unless the bailiff has applied to the court for permission to the contrary.

If a bailiff intends to take control of goods outside 6 am and 9 pm then he must apply for that authority separately by making an application to the court under Civil Procedure Rule CPR 84.6.

If your doorbell camera recorded a bailiff clamping your vehicle before 6 a.m., you may be able to recover damages under Paragraph 66 of Schedule 12 of the Tribunal Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 and sections 2 and 3 of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, which gives you a strong case for action.
